While working on my Ph.D. in Instructional Design at the University of South Alabama, I have been employed in the campus' Online Learning Lab. It has been an extremely valuable experience--working closely with faculty members, training in technology that I probably wouldn't have been exposed to otherwise, and discovering multiple ways in which to integrate my previous creative experience with instructional design and educational technology.
My research interests include positive psychology, flow theory, motivation, change, creativity and problem solving, distance education, open education, the usage of open source software in education, guided imagery as a learning strategy, technophobia, test anxiety and immersive learning (using technologies such as Second Life).
After earning my Ph.D. (expected in 2009), I am hoping to be hired for a university-level position, teaching lecture classes and workshops. I also would like to work as a consultant for organizations for which my collective background of creative and instructional design will be a bonus.
